Neottiella rutilans (Fr.) Dennis syn. Peziza rutilans Fr. Cup 0.5–1.5cm across, saucer-shaped with a short stalk at the centre almost buried in the substrate, inner surface bright yellowish-orange, outer whitish flushed orange towards the margin and covered in minute, downy white hairs. Asci 300 x 20µ. Spores broadly elliptical, reticulate, containing one or two oil drops, 22–25 x 13–15µ. Habitat on heathland or sandy soil amongst Polytrichum. Season autumn to winter. Frequent. Not edible. Found In Europe. |
